Remodeled Park Opens In North County After $9M Upgrade

BROOKLYN PARK, MD - Brooklyn Park Middle School has a completely remodeled athletic complex.

The renovated facilities were unveiled at a Nov. 18 ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The upgrades include:

  • Lighted, eight-lane, 400-meter track and field
  • Lighted, synthetic turf, multi-purpose field
  • Tennis and basketball courts
  • Concession and restroom building
  • Pathways

The project cost $9.4 million, WMAR reported

The Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation contributed funding. 

Other collaborators included:

  • Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks
  • Anne Arundel County Department of Public Works
  • Anne Arundel County Public Schools
  • State of Maryland

Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman called the park an "incredible new space."

"We had a great time celebrating these upgrades with our athletes and community members," Pittman said Monday on Facebook. "Thank you to [our partners] for collaborating with us to turn this dream into a reality for our residents."

  • Greater Baybrook Alliance
  • Old Brooklyn Park Community Association
  • Academia de Glen Burnie Soccer Club
  • Brooklyn Park Broncos
  • Severn Athletic Club
  • Lewis Contractors

"Get ready to be amazed by the incredible transformations at this facility!" the Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks said Nov. 18 on Facebook. "We're excited to witness the community thrive in this enhanced space!"

The park is located at 200 Hammonds Lane.
