GLEN BURNIE, MD - The outdoor ice rink is set to reopen Wednesday in the Glen Burnie Town Center, just in time for that evening's tree lighting ceremony.

The ice-skating rink has been under renovation since at least October 2022.

The rink's operator, the Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks, said the renovation is complete.

"We are currently making ice at the Glen Burnie rink so all systems go for tomorrow evening," spokesperson Heath Neiderer told Patch on Tuesday.

The Glen Burnie Town Center will host its annual Christmas tree lighting Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The rain date is Thursday.

An hour of free ice-skating is scheduled Wednesday at the outdoor rink from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

More information on the ice rink is posted here.

Other Festivities At Tree Lighting

There will still be plenty of entertainment, even if the rink isn't open yet.

Santa Claus will visit with kids, and families will enjoy hot cocoa. There will also be live music and local vendors.

Planners encouraged attendees to eat at these participating restaurants:

  • Mali Thai Restaurant
  • Pho Miss Saigon
  • Maria D's Sub Shop

The Anne Arundel County Police Department will collect gifts for Toys for Tots. Attendees are asked to consider bringing an unwrapped toy to donate, but this is not required.

Other county agencies will be present as well.

Free parking is available across the street at the Henry L. Hein Public Service Building garage, located at 7480 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd.

More information is posted on this Facebook event, this webpage and this flyer.
