Anne Arundel County Fair Returns This Week With Rides, Music, Contests

CROWNSVILLE, MD - The Anne Arundel County Fair runs from Wednesday through Sunday in Crownsville. The fair will feature rides, live music and contests. 

The opening ceremony is Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the flag poles outside the office. A portion of opening day proceeds will benefit the Anne Arundel County Food Bank.

Thursday highlights include a senior citizen's variety show and a game of bingo at 11 a.m. on the upper stage.

Friday will have activities for preschoolers and elementary schoolers from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Highlights include a cow milking station and free kiddy rides.

A kids' tug of war (field by the lower stage) and an antique tractor pull (track area) are both slated for Saturday at noon. Registration for the 3:30 p.m. pie-eating contest opens at 2:30 p.m. and costs $1 at the info booth.

The cute kid contest is slated for Sunday at 10 a.m. on the upper stage. The registration process is posted on page 12 of this guide. Registration for the 2 p.m. watermelon-eating contest opens at 1:30 p.m. and costs $1 at the info booth. The best-in-show awards will be distributed at 4 p.m. on the upper stage.

Pig races and a bubble circus run daily at a variety of times.

Motown cover band The NoWhere Men will perform Saturday at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. on the upper stage. Country singer Anna Stamato, a Frederick native, will perform Sunday at 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. on the upper stage and at 4 p.m. on the lower stage.

The rides are open daily. An unlimited wristband is $15 on Wednesday and Thursday and $30 on Saturday and Sunday. The Friday price is not listed online.

Rides are not included in the price of the fair entrance ticket.

Entrance tickets are $10 for anybody 10 or older. Tickets for kids 9 and under are free with a paying adult.

Tickets are free Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for seniors 55 and up, children and anybody with a disability. Friday is children's day, when kids 9 and up will pay $5 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Entrance is free for kids 8 and younger.

The fair will be closed for parts of Thursday and Friday. The fair will open at 9 a.m., close at 2 p.m. and reopen at 5 p.m. on those days.

The Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds are located at 1450 Generals Highway.
