Wife Killed While Sleeping Beside Son, Anne Arundel County Husband Convicted

OWINGS MILLS - Last week, a Baltimore County Court convicted 44-year-old Glen Burnie resident Brandon Robinette of the brutal first-degree murder of his wife in Owings Mills.

According to police, on the evening of May 3, 2021, Baltimore County Police responded to a distress call from an apartment on Enchanted Hills Road in Owings Mills. After arriving at the scene, officers found Tameka Bautista-Robinette dead from a stab wound to the neck.

The report describes a tragic scene, suggesting that Bautista-Robinette was killed while asleep, with her 6-year-old son beside her in the same bed. Police clarified that Bautista-Robinette's daughter made the 911 call after discovering her mother's grim condition.

According to the State's Attorney's Office, investigations unraveled that Bautista-Robinette had kicked her husband, Brandon Robinette, out of their Owings Mills home before the murder.

Mr. Robinette has a documented history of domestic violence. In 2018, he was convicted of assaulting Ms. Bautista-Robinette with a knife and had only been out of prison for a month when he committed the murder.

In a news release, State's Attorney Scott Shellenberger highlighted the dire need for more robust measures to address domestic violence.

"Unfortunately, we can no longer protect Ms. Bautista-Robinette, but hopefully, through this successful prosecution, the message will be again be sent about our intolerance for domestic violence," Shellenberger said.

Sentencing has been set for November 1, 2023. According to the State's Attorney's Office, the prosecution is pushing for a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
