ReplyYou are correct, tick tubes are excellent but only one part in the defense of your yard. In one stage of the life cycle of the ticks they live with the white footed mouse so the treated cotton balls will help there. The tick tubes won't help with adult ticks or with the nymph ticks which are the size of a tip of a pen or with animals dropping ticks in your yard. For complete protection you need to have your yard sprayed by a pest control professional who's an expert in ticks. There are different options available including organic.

ReplyNicola, you are correct. It is a personal choice. My entire family has Lyme disease too. Unfortunately guinea fowl are not an option for most suburbs. Lyme is scarier for us too. I wound up having surgery because of it. There are not a lot of options to rid your yard of ticks. When we couldn't find anyone to spray our yard so we decided to do it ourselves.

ReplyWhile deer are certainly beautiful to watch, they are full of ticks that cause Lyme Disease...the populations should be culled again.

ReplyWith the warm winter, wet spring and crazy storms, it's no wonder West Nile Virus has shown up early in Fairfax County.

Good advice above and sorry you always had to go in. You can spray your yard for mosquitoes. It's very effective. Kills mosquitoes on contact and puts up a preventative barrier that will last up to 3 weeks. Organic options are available.
