A man riding a scooter sustained serious injuries Saturday afternoon following an accident on Ritchie Highway in Brooklyn Park, a county fire official said. Capt. James Rostek of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department said a 36-year-old man was hurt after being struck by a car shortly after 3 p.m. Medics rushed the man to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore with serious but non-life threatening injuries, Rostek said.
Police believe the pedestrian may have failed to yield the right of way to the van.
A pedestrian was struck by a van while crossing 8th Avenue NW in Glen Burnie on Friday night. Police said officers and members of the Traffic Safety Section responded to the crash scene on 8th Avenue NW, east of Penrod Court, around 10:25 p.m. Friday. Police believe the pedestrian was crossing from the north side of the road to the south side and failed to yield to a Chevrolet Astro Van, according to a release. Although police said the incident is still under investigation, they believe the pedestrian may have been intoxicated and difficult for the van's driver to see.
