Where in the Glen Burnie or Pasadena area are you taking mom for Mother's Day brunch?

Mother's Day is just around the corner and many of us will take part in the great American tradition of heading to brunch that Sunday morning or afternoon. I might have to borrow someone's mother as mine lives in Atlanta so I won't be able to see her this year for Mother's Day. But tell me, where in the Glen Burnie or Pasadena area will you take your mother for brunch? Click here to see all of the previous Readers' Choice winners in the Glen Burnie area. Readers' Choice Tie: Sandwiches at Greenhouse Grill, Panera Bread

Panera Bread and locally-owned restaurant Greenhouse Grill have the best sandwiches in town, according to your votes.

Patch asked and you answered. According to you, the readers of Glen Burnie Patch, it's a toss up between Greenhouse Grill and Panera Bread for the best place in the Glen Burnie area to grab a good sandwich. Based on your feedback, the restaurants won Glen Burnie's Readers' Choice contest for best sandwich. Both received the same number of votes and positive feedback. Greenhouse Grill was added to the list a few hours after our contest began because of a comment from Patch reader Nanny. "One place left out is 'The Greenhouse Grill' on Ritchie Hwy near McDonald's and Wendy's... They have the best sandwiches but werent' on the list," she wrote in the comments. Patch reader Laura said she appreciated the selection at Panera. "Definitely Panera…

Readers' Choice: Glen Burnie Sandwiches

Who serves the best sandwiches in the Glen Burnie area?

Fans of NBC's The Voice might recognize this exchange: "I make sandwiches for a living," said Jamie Lono, a contestant on the singing competition show during the first round of live auditions last month. "Well you know what, man, we should hook up," coach Cee Lo said. "Because I eat sandwiches." As do I, Cee Lo. And I can think of a number of places in the Glen Burnie area that offers a good one. (Including Wawa, as mentioned in a previous article.) But tell me, where do you get a good sandwich in Glen Burnie, Brooklyn Park and Linthicum? Readers' Choice: Glen Burnie St. Patrick's Celebrations

Where is the best place in Glen Burnie to celebrate St. Patrick's Day?

When I was a child, my mother would dress me from head to toe in green on St. Patrick's Day. I always thought it was to ensure that I didn't get pinched—how did that tradition begin, by the way?—but it wasn't until I was in third or fourth grade that she let me in on the reason for participating so fully in St. Patrick's Day. "If anyone asks you why you have on so much green just tell them about your great-great-great-great grandmother who was full-blooded Irish with flaming red hair that was long enough that she could sit on it," she said. So there it is. Turns out I'm Irish. That said, I've done my best to compile a list of the best places to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. Tell me, where's your favorite place to celebrate on March 17 in …

Best of Winner: Friendly's for Breakfast

The restaurant, best known for its ice cream, won 32 percent of the vote in the Glen Burnie Patch "Best of" contest.

Patch asked and you answered. According to you, the readers of Glen Burnie Patch, Friendly's offers the best breakfast around. Based on votes, comments and reviews, the Crain Highway restaurant won Glen Burnie's first "Best of Patch" contest. When the poll closed at 9 a.m. Friday and I saw that Friendly's won by a pretty good margin, receiving 32 percent of the vote, I decided I'd drop by the restaurant to check out the great breakfast deal that Sarah F referred to in the comments. For $2.99 you can get the Big-Two-Do breakfast at Friendly's—two eggs made to order, two strips of bacon or sausage and your choice between two slices of toast, two pancakes or two slices of French toast. Not bad right? I went for two eggs "over medium," two …

I think people may be surprised that Honey-Bee didnt win. I didnt. I went in there over the Christmas holiday, before 8am, and it took 20 minutes for my daughter and I to be served. They had a full wait staff, but if you were not a regular patron in there, you were not seen right away. At least that was my impression. I think it will be a Friendly's customer from now on when I do my occasional …   more ›
