The company's donation goes to two schools near each of its centers of operation in Glen Burnie, Laurel, Odenton and Pasadena.
Local healthcare provider Patient First recently donated $1,000 each to eight county elementary schools, two in each community that it serves. Schools that received the $1,000 donation are: According to a release from the school system, the schools will use the funds to expand book collections, enhance STEM offerings, or increase technological resources. “We are grateful to be able to support our community in this way,” said David Clark, community representative for Patient First. “Sustaining our schools is essential to ensuring a better quality of community life.” The company's donation goes to two schools near each of its centers of operation in Glen Burnie, Laurel, Odenton and Pasadena. With the seasonal flu hitting Maryland last month, the Anne Arundel County Department of Health and Patient First both urge Glen Burnie-area residents to get their flu shot.
The Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygeine (DHMH) reported the first cases of season influenza in the last week of December—where two were hospitalized with flu-related illness. Of the 26 samples submitted to DHMH for testing, one was found to be positive for influenza, according to the state's Flu Watch website. The Anne Arundel County Department of Health and Patient First both are encouraging residents to get their season flu vaccine if they have not already. "The Anne Arundel County Department of Health continues to hold free weekly walk-in flu clinics and schedule appointments at our Glen Burnie and Parole Health Centers," said health department spokeswoman Elin Jones in an email.
