Last Chance: Register for SAT, ACT

The registrations to take the college tests are around the corner.

Planning to take the ACT or SAT soon? The deadline to register for the June tests are right around the corner. Registration to take the ACT on June 9 is Friday, according to the test's website. Registration for the June 2 SAT is Tuesday, according to the College Board. In November, Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) said its schools continued to exceed state average SAT scores for the 15th consecutive year. The county also noted in a statement an increase in its SAT participation among Hispanic and black students. Good luck to students taking the SAT or ACT test next month.

Glen Burnie High is looking for a alumni to be inducted to the school's Wall of Honor. Applications are due May 1.

Do you know a Glen Burnie High graduate whose achievements shine as stellar examples to the students of the school? The school currently is accepting applications for nominees to be inducted to the Glen Burnie High School Alumni Wall of Honor. Applications must be received by May 1. Candidates must have graduated from Glen Burnie at least 10 years prior to the nomination. Self nominations are not accepted. Last Chance: GBIA Carter Award Nominations

Do you know a dedicated community volunteer? The deadline to nominate them for the Glen Burnie Improvement Association Carter Award is coming up soon.

The Glen Burnie Improvement Association (GBIA) is seeking nominations for outstanding volunteers for this year's Richard H. Carter award. Nominations must be received by May 1. The award, established in 1991 to pay tribute to dedicated community volunteers, is for people living in the 21060 or 21061 ZIP codes who have served the Glen Burnie community through a variety of organizations or activities. Last Chance: Free Income Tax Assistance, Preparation

The local branch of the state comptroller's office will be open on April 14 for free tax assistance and preparation.

If you haven't filed your taxes yet, there is still time. The Annapolis branch of the state comptroller's office is one of 12 open on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to provide free income tax return assistance and preparation. The office is located in the Revenue Administration Center, located at 80 Calvert St. in Annapolis.
