Police Searching for Driver in Fatal Hit-and-Run

Police said Henry Smith, 71, of Laurel, was killed when a car struck him on I-295 early Saturday morning.

Maryland State Police are searching for the driver in a fatal hit-and-run that occurred on I-295 early Saturday morning. According to a release, Henry Smith, 71, of Laurel was killed when he was struck by a car shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday on I-295 near the Baltimore Beltway. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy performed Saturday confirmed his death was the result of being struck by a vehicle. Police said shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday they received a call for a person walking in the roadway on northbound I-295 near I-695. A trooper responded to the area and found the victim lying in the fast lane of I-295, just south of I-695. There is no information on the vehicle the struck Smith, according to the release. Glen Burnie Man Dies in I-97 Accident

Jianguo Pan, 54, of Glen Burnie died after he was hit head-on by a car traveling the wrong way on the highway early Thursday morning.

A Glen Burnie man and a Pasadena woman died Thursday morning following a head-on collision on Interstate 97 in the Millersville area. Police said Jianguo Pan, 54, of Glen Burnie was killed when Kelly Lynn Whitt, 25, of Pasadena hit him head-on while traveling the wrong way on I-97. Whitt was pronounced dead at the scene. Pan died about four hours after being flown to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, according to WBAL. Officials from the Maryland State Police (MSP) and Anne Arundel County Fire Department said they responded shortly after 1:30 a.m. Thursday to the area just north of Maryland Route 32. Man Dies in Route 10 Accident Thursday Morning

A 42-year-old man, whose name had not been released as of 10 a.m. Thursday, died after the truck he was driving hit trees along Maryland Route 10.

Update (1:43 p.m.): A 42-year-old Glen Burnie man died early Thursday morning after the truck he was driving ran into trees along Maryland Route 10, police said. Anne Arundel County fire officials pronounced Rafet Gerigiden, of the unit block of Marley Neck Boulevard, dead on the scene. According to a police press release, officers responded to an accident at Maryland Route 10 just south of Furnace Branch Road at about 1:45 a.m. Thursday. Officers found a Ford Ranger pickup truck off the roadway on the right shoulder in the trees with substantial damage. Police said Gerigiden was trapped in the truck with extensive injuries.. Updated: Crash Victim May Have Had Medical Problem

Police officials said the 76-year-old victim may have been experiencing a health problem before crashing her van.

UPDATE (10:14 a.m. Tuesday)—The woman killed in Monday’s crash on Quarterfield Road may have been suffering from a medical condition and was not wearing her seat belt when the accident occurred, according to new information from Anne Arundel County Police. Police said in a press release that Shirley Walker-Lloyd, 76, of West Islip, NY, was driving a 2001 Honda Odyssey van northbound approaching Myers Drive, when the van began swerving. The van crossed the center of the road and struck a 2000 International 4600 trash truck along the side. The van then veered off the road and into a tree. Walker-Lloyd died at the scene. Grand Jury Indicts Teen in Fatal 2011 Accident

A Millersville teen faces negligent manslaughter charges stemming from an accident in Crofton last summer that killed a Glen Burnie man.

A Millersville teen is facing charges from a July 2011 accident that left a Glen Burnie man dead. Elizabeth Ramirez, 19, of the 600 block of Wheat Mill Court in Millersville was indicted by a grand jury in February and arraigned on Monday, according to online court records. She is charged with negligent manslaughter, reckless driving, driving without a license and other charges. Javaid Firdaus, 63, of Glen Burnie, sustained multiple injuries in the July 31 accident and later died at Baltimore Washington Medical Center, according to an Anne Arundel County police report from last year. Fort Washington Man Dies in Fatal Glen Burnie Accident

Police say speed and aggressive driving by a Virginia man may have led to the death of John Frederick Cornelius, 66, of Fort Washington in an accident Monday night on Route 100.

A Fort Washington man is dead after police say speed and aggressive driving by another driver might have caused an accident Monday night on Route 100. John Frederick Cornelius, 66, was taken to the Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore after the accident, where he later died of his injuries, police said. According to a police press release, Zachary Adam Covington, 25, of Springfield, VA, was driving a 2005 BMW west on Route 100 in the turn lane for Quarterfield Road at about 7:10 p.m. Monday. Police say Covington then cut off several drivers when he merged onto the second lane of Route 100 west and hit the left rear part of a 2008 Ford F-150 as the truck moved into the right lane. Driver Identified in Wednesday's Police Chase, Fatal Crash in Pasadena

Police said Brian L. McNutt, 50, of Glen Burnie was the man driving the truck involved in a police chase and subsequent crash that resulted in his death.

Maryland State Police (MSP) have identified Brian L. McNutt, 50, of Glen Burnie as the man behind the wheel of a Dodge Dakota involved in a police chase Wednesday that ended with a fatal crash in Pasadena. Police were able to identify McNutt from his fingerprints. According to a police press release, McNutt's license had been revoked in Maryland since at least 2008. Police said they believe McNutt borrowed the truck from the owner, both of whom had the same address on Stiemly Avenue. As of Thursday afternoon, police had not yet determined a motive for McNutt's "erratic and dangerous driving behavior" on Wednesday, but said the medical examiner's office was conducting forensic and toxicology tests.
