After receiving a complaint about a suspected drug dealer in the area, police launched an investigation that resulted in the arrest of a Baltimore man in Brooklyn Park on Thursday. According to Anne Arundel County police, the county's Special Enforcement Section worked with the Baltimore Police Department’s Southern District Operational Flex Squad to search the Budget Plaza Motel located in the 4800 block of Ritchie Highway in Brooklyn Park on Thursday at about 2:56 p.m. Police said the joint investigation between the counties stemmed from a complaint about a suspect dealing drugs in areas of Linthicum, Brooklyn Park and south Baltimore. Nearly 700 drivers made contact with officers, who arrested a total of 11 people during checkpoints or area patrols on Friday in the northern part of Anne Arundel County.
Five drivers were arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) in the northern part of the county on Friday, according to Anne Arundel County police. Patch previously reported that police would conduct a DUI checkpoint iniative on Friday along Ritchie Highway and 11th Avenue in Brooklyn Park. According to police, the Brooklyn Park area accounted for 6 percent of all DUI arrests and approximately 4 percent of DUI-related crashes in 2011. County police worked with Maryland State Police to run two separate checkpoints on northbound and southbound Ritchie Highway, as well as running other patrols in the area. A man told police that he was walking in Brooklyn Park on Friday night when he was approached by a man with gun. According to a press release from Anne Arundel County police, officers from the eastern district responded at about 7 p.m. Friday to Baltimore Washington Medical Center for a reported attempted robbery that happened earlier in the northern district. The victim said he was walking in the area of Audrey Avenue and 4th Street in Brooklyn Park when he was approached by a man who ordered him to hand over his money, according to police. Police say Jason Jacobs of Brooklyn Park was arrested Saturday and charged with theft and driving on suspended or revoked license.
Jason Jacobs, 27, of the 5200 block of Fourth Street in Brooklyn Park, was arrested early Saturday morning after a county police officer found gnomes and other ceramic yard decorations in his car, police said. The officer stopped Jacobs’ car on Wasena Avenue about 1:40 a.m. Saturday after receiving a call about suspicious activity and, after investigating, determined he took items from yards in the neighborhood, police spokesman Justin Mulcahy wrote in an email. The officer located four victims and returned their items, but not all of the decorations were returned because the officer couldn’t determine the owners, Mulcahy wrote. Police said two people from Odenton were arrested at a Brooklyn Park hotel Wednesday night after detectives purchased heroin during a narcotics investigation. According to a press release from Anne Arundel County police, the incident occurred Wednesday at about 10:45 p.m. at the Budget Plaza Motel located in the 4800 block of Ritchie Highway in Brooklyn Park. After purchasing the heroin, detectives executed a narcotics search warrant at the motel room and seized heroin, cocaine and drug paraphernalia. Police said 39-year-old Eugene Wayne Krenzer and 38-year-old Sandra Lynn Krenzer, both of the 1300 block of Burlington Road in Odenton were arrested and charged with various drug-related offenses. A man told police he was assaulted and robbed early Monday morning in Brooklyn Park. According to a press release from Anne Arundel County police, officers from the Northern District responded to the 5600 block of Ritchie Highway just after 5 a.m. Monday. Police said the male victim told officers that he was walking to a convenience store at the corner of Ritchie Highway and Church Street when a man struck him with an unknown object. A man armed with a gun reportedly broke into a home in Brooklyn Park on Wednesday night. The home's residents were not harmed and no property was taken, but police were unable to locate the man.
