Police: Employee Takes Gun, Strikes Would-Be Robber in Glen Burnie

A report says an employee at Mikie's Diner scared off a would-be robber after taking the suspect's gun and striking him.

Anne Arundel County police are seeking information on the suspect in an attempted armed robbery early Wednesday at Mikie's Diner in Glen Burnie. But the suspect did not walk away unscathed, according to police. Shortly after 6 a.m., a man carrying a firearm entered Mikie's Diner on the 1200 block of Crain Highway and confronted an employee. Police said the employee started fighting the suspect, took the gun away from him and began striking the suspect repeatedly with the gun. The suspect fled south on Crain Highway, according to police. Arriving officers searched the immediate area, but failed to locate the suspect. Police recovered the weapon, and said the investigation is ongoing. Woman Screams, Men Flee in Robbery Attempt

Police say two would-be robbers fled after a woman began screaming during an attempted robbery in Glen Burnie.

Anne Arundel County police are seeking information about two suspects in an attempted strong armed robbery in Glen Burnie on Thursday night. Shortly before 9 p.m., two men approached a woman from behind on the 100th block of Warwickshire Lane, and attempted to take her purse. Police said the victim held onto the purse and began screaming, which brought the attention of a nearby witness. The suspects then let go of the purse and fled on foot behind apartments on Warwickshire Lane toward Harris Heights Avenue. Arriving officers searched the immediate area, but failed to locate the suspects. 3 Teens Attempt to Rob Woman in Glen Burnie

The woman said she was approached by three teenage boys after she parked her car in the 8000 block of Greenleaf Terrace early Wednesday morning.

Three youths believed to be teenagers allegedly attempted to rob a woman in Glen Burnie after she parked her car early Wednesday morning. According to police, officers responded to the 8000 block of Greenleaf Terrace in Glen Burnie for a reported attempted robbery. The victim, a 29-year-old woman, told police three teenage boys approached her after she got out of her car in the parking lot. She said one of the teens demanded money as a second one grabbed her from behind. The woman told police she resisted and the three teens fled from the scene toward Crain Highway. Police Use K-9 to Nab Attempted Robbery Suspect

A Glen Burnie man is in custody after being charged with allegedly threatening a woman as she tried to withdraw money from an ATM in Severn.

  Anne Arundel County police said they arrested and charged a Glen Burnie man in connection with an attempted robbery of a woman at a Wells Fargo bank branch on Sunday. Police said in a press release that Charles Edward Sawyer, 27, of Glen Burnie, allegedly threatened a woman with a knife as she tried to withdraw money from a drive-thru ATM in the 7800 block of Quarterfield Park Road in Severn. Officers responded to the scene at about 10:25 p.m. Sunday. Police said Officer Jeffrey Rothenbecker and his K-9 partner Rocky located the suspect as he was running away and demanded that he stop. Police Arrest Brooklyn Park Man on Drug Charges

In a separate incident, a suspect attempted to rob a man in the 7800 block of Tall Pines Court.

Brooklyn Park: Drug arrest After discovering drugs during a traffic stop, Anne Arundel County police officers conducted a search and seizure warrant at the home of a Brooklyn Park man and arrested him on drug charges. Damon Antonio Martin, 36, of the 5500 block of Patrick Henry Drive in Brooklyn Park was charged with possession with the intent to distribute marijuana and possession of marijuana. According to a police press release, officers pulled over Martin at about 2 a.m. Sunday in the area of Ritchie Highway and Walton Avenue in Brooklyn Park. Officers found several grams of suspected marijuana and conducted a search and seizure warrant at Martin's residence. In total, officers confiscated 377 grams of suspected marijuana, $435 in cash…

Police Report Attempted Robbery in Linthicum Friday

Police said a man assaulted and tried to steal a woman's purse in Linthicum on Friday evening.

A man allegedly assaulted and tried to rob a woman on Friday night in Linthicum, police said. According to a police press release, officers responded to the area of Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard and Camp Meade Road in Linthicum at about 7:50 p.m. Friday for a reported assault. Officers spoke with a witness who said he saw a man assaulting a woman and trying to steal her purse. The witness said he intervened and the suspect fled the scene. The victim, a 23-year-old woman, told police that she was walking in the area when the man accosted her at the intersection of Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard and Boulevard Place and demanded money.
