A rock quintet from Archbishop Spalding High in Annapolis took home top honors in this weekend's 16th annual Battle of the Bands.

Eleven high school bands from across Anne Arundel County performed in this year's concert-competition at Maryland Hall in Annapolis.
  • FIRST: Five Seconds to Freedom—Archbishop Spalding High
  • SECOND: The Goons—South River High
  • THIRD: Brothers Claire—Broadneck High
With their winning performance, Five Seconds to Freedom earned a professional recording session with producer Steve Wright in Baltimore, along with dedicated airtime on local radio stations and a headliner at Ram's Head On Stage later this year.

Their first album, Solar Flares, is due out Feb. 1, according to the band's Facebook page.
