Police: Man Threw 'Molotov Cocktail' Into Apartment

Charles Wayne Rogers has been charged with attempted murder after entering a Glen Burnie apartment with an explosive device Tuesday night.

Anne Arundel County police have charged a Glen Burnie man with multiple counts of attempted murder after he allegedly entered a apartment with a knife and “Molotov cocktail” explosive.

Officers responded at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday to a report of a domestic assault at the 300 block of Rose Avenue in Glen Burnie. Police said they learned that Charles Wayne Rogers, 51, entered the home with a knife and a bottle containing a flammable liquid and a rag used as a wick.

Police said Rogers threw the bottle onto the bed in the direction of the apartment's occupants. The bottle did not ignite, but police said Rogers forced a female resident out of the house against her will.

According to police, the suspect and the woman were spotted walking toward Corkran Middle School. Officers used an aviation and K-9 team to locate them hiding in a wooded area near the school.

Police arrested Rogers on the scene and treated the woman for minor injuries.

The Anne Arundel County Fire Marshal assisted in the investigation.

Police charged Rogers with numerous crimes, including two counts of attempted first-degree murder, four counts of attempted second-degree murder, six counts of reckless endangerment, attempted arson, burglary, kidnapping and false imprisonment.
