Police Charge County Employees with Stealing Gas

Police arrested two county Department of Recreation and Parks employees Tuesday who are accused with stealing gas from county fuel sites.

Anne Arundel County police arrested two Department of Recreation and Parks employees Tuesday who are accused with stealing gas from county fuel sites.

Jodie Frank Harbert, 44, of the 400 block of Summer Wind Way in Glen Burnie was charged with theft less than $1,000 and theft scheme less than $1,000. Preston Walter Perry, 44, of the 100 block of Main Street in Lothian was charged with theft less than $100.

The Department of Recreation and Parks contacted police about employees who were involved in stealing gas from county fuel sites by using it for personal use, according to a police press release.

Detectives examined reports and found that certain employees' gas usage was "substantially higher than the average use," prompting a criminal investigation, according to the release.

Detectives learned through an investigation that two employees were taking county gas to use in their personal vehicles and issued criminal summonses for Harbert and Perry on Tuesday.

I know times are rough, but at least they had a job so they potentially could've paid for their own gas. Now they got real problems, no job, legal fees, possible jail time...seriously was it all worth it in the end! People of the world - if You are thinking of doing something illigal (no matter how big or small) take a quick second to think ahead for a moment before doing it - is it worth it??? Chances are its Not!!! Just Sayin...

County employees who are given vehicles to take home everyday and still use them for personal use should be an issue too! Is this any different than stealing gas, I think not!
