Police Arrest Ferndale Teen on Armed Robbery Charges

In a separate incident, a man was arrested in Brooklyn Park on burglary charges.

Glen Burnie: Armed robbery

Anne Arundel County police arrested a Ferndale teen on Friday on charges of robbing a Glen Burnie Shell station at knife point on Thursday afternoon.

Brandon Halcomb, 19, of the 100 block of 1st Avenue South, was charged with armed robbery, robbery and related charges.

According to a police news release, officers responded to the Shell gas station located in the 7100 block of Baltimore Annapolis Blvd. at about 12:20 p.m. Thursday for a reported armed robbery.

Officers spoke with employees who said a male suspect entered the store, pulled a knife and stole cigarettes from the store before running from the area.

Through an investigation, officers identified the suspect, who was located at about 3:30 p.m. Friday in the Ferndale area.

Brooklyn Park: Burglary arrest

Police arrested a man early Saturday morning in connection with the burlgary of The Hilltop Inn in Brooklyn Park.

Richard Michael Smolak, 40, of no fixed address, was charged with second- and fourth-degree burglary and related charges.

Officers responded to the business in the unit block of Thomas Road in Brooklyn Park at about 1:50 a.m. Saturday for a reported burglary, according to a police news release.

An investigation revealed that suspects forced their way into the business and property was stolen. A witness provided a description of the suspects and officers searched the area, locating Smolak in a wooded area off of Belle Grove Road.

The witness identified Smolak as the person who forced his way into The Hilltop Inn, police said.
