Update (1:43 p.m.): A 42-year-old Glen Burnie man died early Thursday morning after the truck he was driving ran into trees along Maryland Route 10, police said.

Anne Arundel County fire officials pronounced Rafet Gerigiden, of the unit block of Marley Neck Boulevard, dead on the scene.

According to a police press release, officers responded to an accident at Maryland Route 10 just south of Furnace Branch Road at about 1:45 a.m. Thursday.

Officers found a Ford Ranger pickup truck off the roadway on the right shoulder in the trees with substantial damage. Police said Gerigiden was trapped in the truck with extensive injuries..

Initial investigation found that the man was driving south on Route 10 when it veered off the right side of the road just off the pavement, though the cause still is unknown, police said. The truck then went into the woods and hit a tree on the driver's side.

Police said rain and wet pavement may have contributed to the accident.
