GLEN BURNIE—A man is being charged with creating destructive devices in his home, which was found to contain multiple chemical and mechanical components, officials said Friday.

An investigation involving federal agents has closed traffic to the area surrounding the man's home for two days.

Todd Wheeler Jr., 28, of Edgerly Road, is accused of building destructive devices that are "chemical and mechanical" in nature, according to Anne Arundel County Fire Department Division Chief Keith Swindle.

Wheeler currently faces charges that include two counts of manufacturing a destructive device, two counts of possession of a destructive device, and one count of reckless endangerment, Swindle said.

Additional charges are expected as the investigation by state and county agencies continues, Swindle said.

"More charges are pending, based on the results of the lab analysis from the (Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms) as well as our investigation of the home," Swindle said.

Wheeler was treated for minor injuries at an area hospital on Wednesday, which is when police and fire personnel launched an investigation into his home.

Since Thursday, a large portion of Edgerly Road has been closed to traffic while investigators with the fire department, Anne Arundel County Police Department, and the Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms comb through Wheeler's home, searching for more components of the devices.

Details are being held close by investigators until they conclude their work. However, Swindle did say there were multiple devices, chemical and mechanical in nature, and that there was one other resident living at the Edgerly Road home owned by Wheeler.
