Glen Burnie Man Driving in Pedestrian-Involved Accident in Severn

Police say that the pedestrian, who may have been under the influence of alcohol, "suddenly stepped into the roadway."

A woman who was struck by a car Sunday on Telegraph Road in Severn “suddenly stepped into the roadway,” according to a release by the Anne Arundel County Police Department.

Police identified the driver as David William Burge, 27, of Glen Burnie, who was traveling at the time with Danielle Nicole Burge, 27, and an infant. No charges were filed.

Police said the woman who was hit is 52-year-old Claudine Anne Marie Hemingway, of Laguna Niguel, CA. Hemingway also maintains a Severn address. Preliminary investigations, according to the release, revealed that Hemingway may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time.

The incident occurred around 7:19 p.m. Sunday. The 52-year-old woman was hit by a 2004 Dodge Neon on Telegraph Road near Grande View Avenue and sustained life-threatening injuries.

Since the crash, police report that the woman is now in serious, but stable, condition after being taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma.

Speed did not appear to be a factor, according to police.
