Anne Arundel County police arrested a Glen Burnie man Friday night after they say he pulled a gun on a man near .
Rodolfo Antonio Alvarenga, 20, of the 7800 block of Americana Circle was charged with handgun on person, first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct.
According to a police press release, officers responded to the area near Marley Station mall in the 7900 block of Ritchie Highway shortly after 8 p.m. for a report of a suspect with a handgun.
Police spoke with an officer working secondary employee at the mall who encountered two males and attempted to escort them from the building with the help of mall security.
The officer told police he handcuffed one suspect who was not cooperative and while detaining the second suspect he fled the mall and ran into a wooded area near the Baltimore & Annapolis (B&A) Trail. An officer with a K-9 unit saw the suspect walking on Ritchie Highway near Norfolk Road when he was arrested, police said.
Upon further investigation, police spoke with a 19-year-old man who said he was walking on B&A Trail earlier that evening when two male suspects approached him and one began waving a handgun. The suspects then ran and were seen later at the mall, which is when the victim—who was not injured—contacted police.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and that the gun had not yet been recovered.
"Victim and witnesses reported that the subject displayed a gun, which was confirmed through the investigation. However, the weapon has not been recovered at this time," police spokesman Justin Mulcahy said in an email to Patch.
