The search of an Internet cafe in Brooklyn Park led to authorities seizing 75 gambling devices, nearly $600 cash and computer hardware after a month-long investigation into illegal gambling at the business, according to the Anne Arundel County police department.
At 10 a.m. Wednesday, officers from the AACOPD vice unit served a search warrant at Sweepstakes, an Internet cafe at 5011 Ritchie Highway, and found numerous electronic gaming devices being used for illegal gambling, including slots, blackjack and poker.
Officers also discovered that the business failed to file the proper licensing paperwork to occupy the building, and the business did not obtain permits to alter the establishment, according to the department.
Police did not announce any charges, but said they will be filed "at the conclusion of the investigation."
AACOPD acted in coordination with raids conducted across 10 other businesses by the Baltimore County police, according to The Capital Gazette. All 11 of the businesses busted are believed by police to be connected and owned by the same person, according to the report.
Police did not disclose the name of the owner of the businesses, according to The Gazette.
