UPDATE 11/1 2 p.m.
Anne Arundel County police released photos as possible matches for the model vehicle that struck a man in Brooklyn Park early Thursday. Police said it could be a 1997 to 2005 Pontiac Montana or Chevrolet Venture with damage to the passenger side turn signal, headlamp and windshield.
A hit-and-run on Ritchie Highway in Brooklyn Park left a 57-year-old Severn man in critical condition early Thursday, according to Anne Arundel County police.
Shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Thursday, officers responding to a report of a crash found a man lying in a northbound lane on the 5800 block of Ritchie Highway. They identified the pedestrian as Michael J. Diegel, 57, of Severn, and transported him to University of Maryland Shock Trauma.
Police said an initial investigation suggests a vehicle traveling northbound struck Diegel as he was walking in the road—not in a crosswalk.
Investigators said the vehicle may have been a General Motors brand with damage to the passenger side headlamp and windshield.
