Accident Throws Woman From Car, Left in Critical Condition

In separate incidents, a man forced his way into a Brooklyn Park woman's home and stole money and jewelry at gunpoint on Friday and Mikie's Diner was robbed early Monday morning.

Glen Burnie: Accident

A 49-year-old woman was in critical condition as of Monday morning after she was thrown from her car during an accident on Friday afternoon, police said.

According to a police press release, Amanda Rose Howard-Katchmark, 30, of Odenton was driving a GMC Yukon heading north on Crain Highway in the center lane at about 11:30 a.m. Friday as she approached Crainmont Drive.

Elizabeth Lisa Quinones, 49, of Glen Burnie was driving a Dodge Neon heading west on Crainmont and preparing to cross Crain Highway to go into the Giant shopping center.

Police said that when Quinones' light turned green and she began to cross Crain Highway, Howard-Katchmark failed to stop at a red light and sped through the intersection, hitting Quinones' Neon on the driver's side.

The Neon was pushed across the intersection, hit the curb of the center median and began to roll over. Quinones, who police said was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the car out of the passenger side window and onto the center median.

Medics transported Quinones to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore to be treated for injuries that were life-threatening. Police said she was in critical condition as of Monday morning. Howard-Katchmark was taken to Baltimore Washington Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries.

Police said the initial investigation leads them to believe driver error by Howard-Katchmark is a contributing factor to the accident. They said there was no evidence that alcohol or drugs contributed to the accident, which remains under investigation.

Brooklyn Park: Home invasion

A man forced his way into a Brooklyn Park home Friday, stealing money and jewelry at gunpoint, police said.

Anne Arundel County police officers responded to the area of Park Road in Brooklyn Park at about 11:50 a.m. Friday for a reported home invasion.

Officers spoke with a woman who said she opened her door and an unknown man forced his way into her home, pulled a handgun and restrained her. The man searched the home, took jewelry and an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene in a white vehicle that may have been a station wagon, minivan or SUV.

Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the man.

Police said preliminary information leads them to believe it may have been a targeted incident. The investigation is ongoing.

Glen Burnie: Armed robbery

A male suspect robbed early Monday morning, police said.

Officers responded to Mikie's, located in the 1200 block of Crain Highway, at about 5:35 a.m. Monday for a reported armed robbery.

Officers spoke with a victim who said an unknown male suspect entered the restaurant, displayed a weapon and demanded money, according to a police press release.

The victim gave him an undisclosed amount of cash and he fled the scene in an unknown direction.

Police searched the area but were unable to find the suspect.

Amanda Howard-Katchmark flew (at a very high rate of speed) past my friend's daughter near Spalding High School going through the red light and did the same at the next intersection (97 ramp). So fast that it really shook her up as she seemed to come out of no where. As I have read in other comments on this accident, she did the same at Green Branch Lane as a mother and her children were about to pull in her path with their van. I sure hope they get everyone's comments about this dangerous driver to the police department and keep this driver off the roads.
