ANNAPOLIS—Glen Burnie coach Peter Bisser has been telling Joe Kopp to shoot the ball more. So Kopp did just that. Allie Adams, Kendall Gardener and Madison Thomas each scored twice to put Severna Park ahead 6-2 at North County in girls' lacrosse before a spring thunderstorm intervened. The match was abandoned with 13:51 remaining in the first half and the stadium was cleared. At the time of this writing, its outcome was unclear. When Glen Burnie began play in its baseball game at neighborhood North County back on April 16, things did not look good for the home team. The Knights swiftly fell behind by four runs as the Gophers hammered away at their sophomore pitcher, Koby Overstreet, during a game that was suspended by a sudden deluge of rain. After a fast start to the season, the high-powered Eagles (8-2, 7-0 league) are looking to rebound from two close losses in the AACC Girls High School Lacrosse Tournament last week. Severna Park is coached by Carin Perterson and led on the field by Ally Adams, Elizabeth Barranco, Madison Thomas and Morgan Troggler.

In our Game of the Week, Glen Burnie's boys lacrosse team faces off against visiting Northeast on Friday. Gophers head coach Aaron Courtney said earlier this season that offensive players Tyler Napora, a junior, and senior Josh Mercurio, plus defensive players senior Andrew Spadaro, junior Brandon Eduvigen and senior goalie Chris Ford, will bring experience and leadership to the team. As the old saying goes, when it rains, it pours. The skies opened up in the first inning of Wednesday’s game between North County and Severna Park and although the rain never really amounted to much more than a drizzle, it was the Falcons who poured on the runs.
