Patrick Downey, III, the North County High School student-athlete who, in the Fall of 2010, was malicously charged by the Anne Arundel County Police Departement (initially charged with 18 counts, 13 of which were immediately dropped by the State's Attorney Office, remaining five dropped AFTER the end of both the football and wrestling seasons), thereby, wrongfully denied his Senior season of football and wrestling, has gone on to win three consectuive National Wrestling Titles, earn a spot on the U.S. Junior World Team, and this past Sunday, earned a Silver medal at the FILA Junior World Championships in Pattaya, Thailand.
Just goes to show you what can be accomplished with the The Lord in your corner and a never give-up attitude.

In America we are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty, right? I guess not in the sorry ass school system Bunky was in. I know the young man's father and he was wrongfully denied his chance to wrestle and play football his senior year, but he didn't give like your article said. He is a hard working, talented and tenacious young man and his school should be a shamed of themselves. He showed them by doing something at a much higher level. What they did to him was light a fire under he butt, not that he needed it, but like any successful people, he took a negative and turned it into a positive. And the school lost out on a champion wrestler and star quarterback. Way to go and show them Bunk. Hats off to you and your father Patrick Downey. Keep your ears open for Patrick (Bunky) Downey in the future. You will be hearing a lot about him.
