'Great Give' Opportunities: BWMC, CAC, House of Hope

The Anne Arundel County Great Give kicks off Wednesday night. Non-profits participating including the Arundel House of Hope.

Several local non-profits have signed up to receive donations through the GreatGive of Anne Arundel County, which kicks off Wednesday evening.  Beginning at 7 p.m., anyone can hop online and donate money to a wide range of causes. The GreatGiveAAC runs for 24 hours, culminating in a countdown party at Maryland Live! Casino on Thursday, from 5 to 8 p.m. The program is being run by Razoo, an online movement allowing groups to set up online fundraising. The Glen Burnie High School drum line has payed tribute to the long-running British science fiction show Dr. Who at recent music competitions. On April 6, the group competed at Arundel and Meade High Schools, according to the school's music website. The group's next competition is scheduled for April 20 at Ridley High School in Folsom, PA. 'Get Smart' Comes to Children's Theatre of Annapolis

Students from across the county will don the roles of Maxwell Smart and Agent 99 in The Children's Theatre of Annapolis (CTA) presentation of Get Smart, premiering in October. Get Smart, a comedic spoof based off of the classic television spy series of the 1960's, will premiere on October 12 with repeat shows throughout the month. International Talk Like a Pirate Day, falling annually on Sept. 19, is one of the most spirited Internet-based holidays out there, where you can really let the Capt. Morgan, parrot and peg leg jokes fly. One might wonder what the thought process was behind the holiday—and the truth is, the people who created it are just as fun and wacky as the holiday itself. Martin O'Malley, flanked by his seven-piece band O'Malley's March, played a rollicking concert of electric Irish folk music late Wednesday night at BlackFinn Saloon in Charlotte. Woman's Club Hosts Linthicum Summer Concert Series

The General Federation of Women's Clubs Woman's Club of Linthicum Heights hosts the 32nd annual Summer Concerts in the Park.

The General Federation of Women's Clubs Woman's Club of Linthicum Heights 32nd annual summer concert series got under way last Sunday with a performance from Pet Rock. The concerts will be held at 6 p.m. every Sunday in Linthicum Park on Benton Avenue. Here is the list of bands: The series is arraigned by the Performing Arts Committee and is supported by a grant from the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County. Residents are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs, food and nonalcoholic drinks. Concerts are canceled if it rains. See more:
