Two Teens Die in Crash in Elkridge
Jeffrey Ryan Giles, 19, of Linthicum, and Jonathon Lloyd Deckman, 18, of Severn, were pronounced dead at the scene and three other teens were at Shock Trauma, Howard County police said.
A Linthicum teen and a Severn teen died Friday night when the car they and three others were traveling in hit a tree on Lawyers Hill Road in Elkridge, said police.
Police said that the five teens from Anne Arundel County were in a 2008 Pontiac GT heading westbound on the 6200 block of Lawyers Hill Road when the driver lost control, crossed the eastbound lane and struck a tree.
A witness called to report the crash, said Elizabeth Schroen, spokeswoman for Howard County Police Department (HCPD).
Jeffrey Ryan Giles, 19, of Linthicum, and Jonathon Lloyd Deckman, 18, of Severn, were pronounced dead at the scene, according to a statement from HCPD.
Police said that Giles and Deckman, who were sitting in the front and rear passenger-side seats, respectively, were not wearing their seatbelts and that speed may be a factor.
Three others in the car were taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.
The driver—Dale Kirk Audet II, 18, of Linthicum—was transported by helicopter to Shock Trauma, where he was in critical condition as of 1 a.m. Saturday, said police.
The rear center passenger, and rear driver’s side passenger—Alyssa Yi, 18, and Carlie Davis, 16, both of Glen Burnie—were taken by ambulance to shock trauma, where they were in stable condition, according to police.
“It was unclear why they were in Elkridge, but it does not appear that was their final destination,” said Schroen in an email to Elkridge Patch, which inquired why the teens were in the area.
Lawyers Hill Road was closed for several hours at the crash site. Police said the incident was still under investigation.
