Westboro Protests at GBHS May Cause Traffic Problems

Westboro Baptist Church, the church group known for its anti-gay protests, is set to picket outside of Glen Burnie High School, possibly causing traffic delays.

Police issued a traffic warning in light of the announcement that Westboro Baptist Church, a group known for its anti-gay protests, would demonstrate outside Glen Burnie High School on Tuesday afternoon.

The group plans to protest outside the school from 2-2:30 p.m., during the school's dismissal time.

To accommodate the protest and counterprotest launched by Glen Burnie area parents, police will close Kuethe Road from Ritchie Highway to Delaware Avenue from about 12:30-4 p.m, according to an alert from Anne Arundel County police. Foot traffic in and around the school complex and areas of the sidewalks also will be closed.

Police ask residents to avoid the area if possible to reduce delays. Residents who are directly impacted by the road closure and need to gain access to driveways are asked to bring identification and police will work to make accommodations.

Anyone with questions or concerns can contact police at 410-222-6135.

These protesters (in my eyes) are doing more damage then good. Think of the bullying that our peers (that are gay, bi whatever) go through everyday. Freedom of speech, i get it. but i think this is truly offensive and will cause more damage then good. Look at all the suicude n ow due to bullying. these people should be ashamed. and this is coming from someone who does believe in God but also, to each their own!!!!

It is not right for people to judge or to go out and to stone people with words of hate calling themselves God's preacher or preachers ...God said in his word to witness and share the good news of his gospel ..not hate ...God Is the the true judge who will judge all at the great white throne judgement..that's what's wrong with the world today ...its so full of hate and not love...God said in his word that in the last days before Jesus returns that the love of many would wax cold ...people have become lovers of themselves and not of God ..going out killing or hating Gods people and claiming that there doing God's work not so ...God said in his word ...if my people would turn from their wicked ways and pray I will heal the land ..God loves the sinner ..he hates the sin ....what did God say ...in his word ..people perish because lack of knowledge....We need to read are bibles more and before you read ask God to give you his understanding and not your own ....God is always right and never wrong in his word ...God is calling his people and the world to repent ....Jesus is soon to come ...give your life to Him while you have the chance ...God Bless you all GBHS ...be safe my friend (DH) ...I'm praying for you ....God is with you

Gbhs has a lesbian principal and every year we hear another story about teachers having sex with students there. Thats why WB is in GB. Oh and I can tell there's a lot of gb graduates on here because they never know how to use "there their theyre"

People wonder why our country is continuously going down here faster than a roller coaster, it’s because of ignorant and closed-minded people like this who have nothing else better to do than throw their beliefs and hatred in front of people and to the young generation. Telling them that it’s okay to hate, it’s okay to judge, that it’s wrong to be gay, and wrong because people are different. People don’t choose their sexual orientation; people do not choose their skin tone, etc. Who cares if the principal is gay or not, but if he/she is a good educator then that’s what they should be commending.

People and groups do many things in the name of "christianity" that aren't christian. This group is not any different. Do you really think this is what JESUS would do? The answer is NO!!! This group seems to be motivated by hate and not love. Apostle William E.Dutcher

I have a child that attends GBH, and I don't think it's appropriate to protest in front of a high school. Regardless, these are underage students. If they want to protest, they should protest in front of the courthouse that passed the gay marriage bill. Protesting in front of a high school won't solve anything, so what's the point?

My granddaughter goes to GBHS and she's home today b/c of the protesters. Why? Because she didn't want to get into trouble today like she did yesterday. Walking with some friends they were discussing the protest & basically she said the school shouldn't be targeted b/c of the beliefs of others. I don't know how she said it or the exact words she used but she was targeted by some jerk teacher. She wasn't starting her own rally, she wasn't inciting a riot, she was stating an opinion to a group of her peers. But she was hauled into the B bldg office and made to sit there the entire day b/c the teacher said she had made inappropriate comments and he could suspend her for it. No calls home, no calls to her Administrator. No one knew where she was & she missed an entire day of classes. This protest did exactly what they wanted it to do, cause problems in and around the school. That was the point for these toxic closed minded parasites. They want confrontation, they thrive on attention and controversy any way they can get it or cause it. That's their work not God's.

I agree, and it's a shame that these students had to deal with this protest. They are there to get an education. Anything that's not related to their education is nonsense.
