There are many things around that house that have more value than we think. Here are some T.I.P.$. to help you stretch your dollar instead of buying extra items for no reason.

• For ring around the collar you do not have to buy those expensive spray-on laundry products. Instead buy store brand shampoo and use on any greasy stains. Shampoo takes the grease out of your hair, so why not your shirt?
• For silk flowers and fake plants at home try removing dust with a clean, soft bristle paintbrush. You can also use this to clean lampshades, especially if they are pleated.
• When you finish a jar of pickles, you do not have to buy a whole new jar. Instead, cut a cucumber into slices and add to the leftover juice. In a few days you will have a new jar of pickles.
• Use white washcloths to do your cleaning. They are especially useful for absorbing carpet spills since there are no dyes in them and you can see the stain coming up on the white. This tip is also environmentally friendly since you can re-use the cloths instead of using paper towels. A dozen of white wash cloths may cost about $3.50 and last for years and years. That can save you tons of money while saving tons of trees.
• Sprinkle baking soda on your carpets before vacuuming instead of those expensive carpet products. It is easier to breathe and costs pennies. Also, baking soda can be used as a substitute for deodorant, toothpaste or freshening up your pet just to name a few. This is an excellent product to stock up on since it is non-toxic and has many household uses.
