When Patch asked readers to vote on the best place in Anne Arundel County to buy sporting goods, one business quickly emerged as the lead in the contest: Spark Running in Severna Park.

Spark Running specializes in running gear and accessories. The store, which opened in October 2011, features a treadmill that determines what type of shoe matches a runner's gait.

"Thank you so much to all of our customers who continue to support us and have voted for us in the reader's choice poll," wrote Caitlin Burman, owner of Spark Running, in an email to Patch. "It means a lot to us as a new business to have your support."

Other contenders for the top spot in this week's Readers' Choice were Marty's Sporting Goods on Mayo Road in Edgewater and Modell's on Jennifer Road in Annapolis.
