Police Respond to Shots Fired in Parking Lot

An attempted armed robbery was reported early Friday morning near the Lowe's on Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie.

A man reportedly fired a round of shots in a parking lot after attempting to rob another man who was sitting in his car early Friday morning.

According to a press release from police, the incident occurred about 5 a.m. Friday in the parking lot of Lowe’s in the 6600 block of Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie.

A 78-year-old male victim told police he was sitting in his car in the parking lot when a man approached and demanded money. The victim said he didn’t have any money, exited his vehicle and struck the suspect with the car door, according to the press release.

Police said the suspect fired a round from a handgun—striking the victim’s car but not injuring him—and fled the area towards West Ordnance Road.

Several officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect, according to the press release. Northern District Detectives are investigating the incident.

It is a shame how these tuff guys have to pull a gun on an elderly man.
I am glad the elderly man is safe. I would not be surprised if the suspect turns around and sues the elderly man for hitting him with the car door.
