In honor of Armed Forces Day on Saturday, Mission BBQ is honoring military all week.

The Glen Burnie restaurant is offering lunch to veterans and those currently serving in the military.

"The nation recognizes Armed Forces Day on May 19th. Mission BBQ doesn't believe that is nearly enough and so we will celebrate Armed Forces Week," the restaurant wrote on its Facebook page.

Members of each branch of the military will receive a free sandwich for lunch—from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

On Monday the restuarant offered lunch to current and former Marines. The other branches will be honored on the following days:

  • Tuesday—Coast Guard
  • Wednesday—Army
  • Thursday—Navy
  • Friday—Air Force

Secretary of Defense Louis Johnson announced the creation of an Armed Forces Day in August 1949 to replace separate Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force days, according to the Department of Defense website.
