Judge Denies Jones' Second Restraining Order Request
The Anne Arundel County Council will begin the process of replacing Councilman Daryl Jones when he reports to federal prison next week.
A judge denied a request from Councilman Daryl Jones' attorney that would prevent the Anne Arundel County Council from replacing Jones when he reports to federal prison next week, according to the Baltimore Sun.
Retired Court of Special Appeals Judge Raymond G. Thieme Jr. ruled against the request for a restraining order by Jones' attorney Wednesday, the Sun reported.
On Tuesday the council passed an emergency ordinance declaring Jones’ District 1 seat vacant, after asserting that his prison sentence equates to a change of residency. The ordinance passed 6-0 with Jones recusing himself from the vote.

We put a lot of trust in our elected officials. If you are in jail, you've lost my trust. At this point it sounds like he is trying to keep a paycheck. His department has a lot of good people that work for him, I hope those people are able to continue doing the tax payers work while this situation sorts itself out.
