Greet the Troops at BWI Airport on Tuesday

Area residents can remember September 11 by joining with Operation Welcome Home Maryland.

 

Local residents looking for a special way to to remember September 11 can join in welcoming home members of the Armed Forces on Tuesday. 

Operation Welcome Home Maryland announced that it will be at BWI Marshall Airport to greet troops returning from deployments and assignments. They will work to decorate the arrival area and hand out snacks and other items. Visitors will be encouraged to applaud, cheer and otherwise thank troops as they arrive at Pier E in the International Arrivals area. 

There are welcome events scheduled at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tuesday, but visitors are encouraged to call the group hotline at 410-630-1555 to get updated arrival times. 

Since March of 2007, Operation Welcome Home has greeted more than 18,000 service members from more than 800 flights.
