Gophers Face Severna Park in Boys Basketball Playoffs

After receiving a second seed and a first-round bye, Glen Burnie will begin its playoff run against Severna Park on Tuesday. North County will take on Old Mill after winning their opening game against Great Mills.

 

Mike Rudd's Gophers haven't played a game since they faced Meade High on Feb. 17, beating the Mustangs 58-42.

After 11 days without a game, they'll face off against Severna Park High at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Glen Burnie after second-seeded the team received a first-round bye in the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA) Class 4A basketball tournament.

Severna Park faced Meade in the first round on Saturday, beating them 65-42.

The North County Knights won their first-round game against Great Mills, 70-54, and will face Old Mill at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

In girls basketball, North County lost Friday to Old Mill, 71-59. The Lady Gophers won their first-round game against Chesapeake 43-35, but lost against Broadneck on Monday night 47-24, according to the MPSSAA website.
