Glen Burnie Man Among Three Charged in Annapolis Thefts

Annapolis Police arrest three men who officers say were pulling handles on cars on Water Street Wednesday night.

Annapolis police arrested three men who were observed pulling on cars doors on Water Street on Wednesday night.

Bena Forrester, 25, of Glen Burnie, was charged with four counts of rogue and vagabond, theft under $100 and possession of burglar’s tools. Police found a Stanley brand phillips head screwdriver in his pocket.

John Simms, 24, and Deontray Johnson, 22, both of Annapolis, were charged with rogue and vagabond. Simms was also charged with possession of burglar’s tools.

Police said they watched Simms enter an unlocked vehicle on Water Street. As officers approached, police said all three men fled, but they were caught and arrested after a brief foot chase.

Police also found miscellaneous property—including cell phones and cash—on the three men.

Nine vehicles were broken into between Oct. 2 and Oct. 8, and only one of them showed any signs of forced entry.

Detective Amy Miguez said, "The detectives are investigating their possible involvement in other thefts."

Simms was committed to the Detention Center on a $3,600 bond. Forrester was committed to the Detention Center on $7,500 bond. Johnson was released from the Commissioner’s Office.
