Brooklyn Park Elementary To Remain Closed Monday

Spokesman Bob Mosier said in a press release that all school-sponsored activities at Brooklyn Park Elementary set for Monday are canceled due to power outages.

More than a week after a severe derecho storm, power still is out at Brooklyn Park Elementary School, canceling all school-sponsored activities and programs for the day.

Brooklyn Park is one of four schools still without power, according to a press release from Anne Arundel County Public Schools. Other schools without power include Crofton Woods Elementary, Lake Shore Elementary and Pershing Hill Elementary.

Baltimore Gas and Electric, which provides electricity to county schools, reported having restored power to all customers on Sunday. It was not known whether another issue was keeping power from being restored at the schools.

For the status of activities sponsored by other agencies, please contact those agencies.

Twelve-month employees who are unable to get to their work location because of travel, child care, or other hardships are encouraged to utilize annual leave and should notify their supervisor of their intent to do so.
