The Anne Arundel County Program of Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland, Inc. will honor its volunteers at its Annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon on Friday, June 24 at Woods Memorial Church in Severna Park.

The Volunteer of the Year for each of the three distribution sites will be announced at this event, and service year pins will be presented. The sites include Pascal Senior Center in Glen Burnie, Woods Memorial Church in Severna Park and St. Martin’s Church in Annapolis. Several volunteers will also be honored for their 20 to 30 years of service with Meals on Wheels.

Meals on Wheels is a non-profit organization that allows homebound people to eat well in their homes. Since 1960, the staff and volunteers prepare meals and deliver more than 800,000 meals a year. According to a press release from the organization, the Anne Arundel County Meals on Wheels program provided 88,796 home-delivered meals to 384 homebound residents in the county between July 1, 2009, and June 30, 2010.
